We commonly find air conditioners whose Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) is 10.  New models are rated as high as 18 SEER -- an improvement of 80%!  Even so, a new air conditioner will rarely pay for itself during the 15-year term of an Efficiency Kansas loan.  Because of this, we only recommend replacing an air conditioner when the other improvements we are recommending will produce enough savings to cover the cost of the air conditioner.

Anyone considering replacing an air conditioner should consider getting a heat pump instead, since it will augment the furnace in the wintertime as well as cooling the house in the summertime.
